Accomplishments & Vision
BUILDING ON SUCCESS AND CONTINUING TO KEEP ASCENSION SAFE
During my first term as Sheriff, I have worked closely with my senior command staff and our entire agency to enhance and improve the services our office provides to the people of Ascension Parish. With safety as our number one priority, we have streamlined efforts, increased response capabilities, and completed our National Accreditation to ensure our agency is among the top law enforcement agencies in the State of Louisiana.
Accomplishments
- 2019 – Re-established the k-9 unit within the Narcotics Division and welcomed two trained canines to the APSO family. This initiative has helped to increase the narcotics division's abilities to fight drug-related crime in Ascension Parish.
- 2020 – Implemented body-worn cameras for all patrol deputies to continue to adopt industry best-practices in law enforcement and continue the growth of our agency as a professional law enforcement organization.
- 2021 – Worked with local and state officials to lead efforts to bring resources desperately needed, including gas, to Ascension Parish following Hurricane Ida’s destruction.
- 2022 – Awarded National Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). By seeking and successfully achieving national accreditation, our agency is now among the top 4% of law enforcement agencies nation-wide and ensures our we are held to the highest and most stringent standards providing greater accountability, improved training and a stronger community connection.
- 2022 – Completed the National Sheriff's Leaders course at the National FBI Academy where Sheriff Webre took lessons in management and leadership, along with a focus on challenges law enforcement face today.
- 2022 – Created a crime task force in Donaldsonville to combat an increase in crime.
My Vision for the Future
As one of the fastest-growing parishes in Louisiana, with an increasing population, it is vitally important that we enhance our public safety capabilities to ensure our community remains one of the safest places to raise your families, live, and work.
When I first ran for Sheriff in 2019, I vowed to Keep Ascension Safe. I am proud of progress and improvements our agency has made in the last three years, but our work is never complete.
To continue best serving the people of Ascension Parish, it is important that we take a tactical approach to training our deputies, remaining fully staffed, and modernizing our operations to meet the needs of the community. We aim to operate in a continuous cycle of improvement, while being held to the highest level of accountability, and to remain transparent with the residents we serve each day.
